Summary: The book is about Bertie. Jack is a boy that ran away from boarding school and met a lady who tells him her story. She tells him about Bertie, who was her husband. She tells him about Bertie who lived in Africa and found a white lion and kept him as his pet. they didn't name they lion , because they didn't want to and thought it was wrong to do so. He was out walking one day when he saw a girl that had her kite stuck up in a tree. Bertie helped her get it down and they became friends. They met every Sunday until Bertie had to go off to college. He did not like it there , because of all the bells that sounded all day. Worse still he couldn't see Millie. At the start of World War 2, Millie knew that Bertie had to go. In the war , Bertie saved the lives if 2 people by rescuing them out of the no mans land area. He later got awarded a bravery medal for saving the 2 people and for his bravery in the war. He spent a long time in hospital. Later on Millie became a nurse at the same hospital Bertie was in and was aloud to take him out at the same time on a Sunday as they used to. While they were on one of there walks Bertie sees a poster that says something about a circus. He asks the shop owner for more information about the circus and were the ringmaster lives. He later finds the house of the ringmaster and saves the "White Prince" and the ringmaster from starvation. He finds them food and gets back on a train to go to England. In England he and the vicar argue over letting the white lion into the church for the wedding. They were getting married . They took the white lion home after that and lived together for a long time after that. That is literally the hole story.
My feelings about the book: I felt happy that they lived together and that they found the white lion. I feel happy, excited, and joyful.
